Woodworking Power Tools

The Compound Miter Saw

A compound miter saw is one of those wonderful Woodworking Power Tools that allows you to make different precision angled cuts along the wood you are working with and it allows you to make horizontal as well as vertical cuts thus allowing the blade to pivot in two different directions at the same time which makes it one of the most versatile Woodworking Power Tools you can own, and because of the simplicity of its design they are easy to use by both men and women.   This tool allows you to make a compound cut such as you would find on the ends of crown molding and roof rafters where they intersect a corner or a valley rafter.

Master carpenters as well as the average handyman around the house will be able to use Woodworking Power Tools for a wide variety of projects such as cutting and installing crown molding, adding door frames, creating rafters, railings around porches and many other ideas.  Having a combination of blades and sliding functions will allow you to make precision cross cuts on material sometimes as wide as 14 inches, especially if you are using a 12 inch blade.

Because the Sliding Compound Miter Saw is a significant upgrade to the older, non sliding variety these are a great addition to any collection of Woodworking Power Tools and give the carpenter or handyman quick access to cutting multiple piece of wood that are the same length and because the are so versatile they have pretty much taken the place of the radial arm saw.

Price might be a factor, as well as weight especially if you are needing to transport your Woodworking Power Tools to other job sites however remember the old saying "you get what you pay for" a tool is worth it's price and most compound miter saws do not weigh that much.  Most saw are available with both steel blades for cutting softer woods and carbide tipped blades and although they may be more expensive they keep their edge longer and are more applicable to the harder woods.

What ever Woodworking Power Tools you decide to purchase and use in your business or home shop, make sure you do plenty of personal research so that you are getting exactly what you want as well as need.
